NUMBER OF UNITS ENGAGED IN TERTIARY INDUSTRY IN CHINA
The results of a 1994 general survey on China's tertiary industry
revealed that by the end of 1992, the country had 21.84 million units
engaged in tertiary industry, some 4.95 million of which were
enterprises, institutions and administrative units, with an additional
16.89 million being urban and rural individual households. In terms of
former three classifications, 2.69 million were independent accounting
units, while 2.26 million were separate accounting units. Compared with
1991, the number of units engaged in tertiary industry increased by
12.9 percent, with the number of rural individual households engaged in
the sector rising by 14.3 percent.

NUMBER OF PEOPLE ENGAGED IN TERTIARY INDUSTRY IN CHINA
The results of a 1994 general survey on China's tertiary industry
revealed that by the end of 1992, the country had 114.834 million
people engaged in its tertiary industry, some 87.477 million of which
were working with enterprises, institutions and administrative units,
with an additional 27.361 million being with urban and rural individual
households. Compared with 1991, the number of people engaged in the
tertiary industry has increased by 8.8 percent, with the number of
people in urban and rural individual households in the sector rising by
15.9 percent.
